Code yellow | orange | red

The series Code yellow | orange | red consists of ten artworks with different ‘pain scales’. Each with three representations of pain associations. The colors yellow, orange and red are a hint to the codes used for alarm phases. Yellow represents a slight sense of threat while red represents a feeling of serious hazard.

The pain scales range from a simple, abstract representation of the color code to images of feelings of inner and external threat. Codes fluctuate, depending on the circumstances. Therefore you can slide the frame of each scale to the image that is most appropriate to you at that moment. By putting a number of pain scales together, a broader palette of gradations can be created.
